Cuttlefish — October 8 sketch

•

Calends of April
Sketch of a cuttlefish among sea vegetation. It has the characteristic W-shaped pupil and a face with many tentacles. It floats and moves with two broad, undulating fins at the side of its body. This is a simple sketch, with sketchy white lines on a black background.

Cuttlefish for day 8 of a month of daily sketches. I made a linocut of one of these guys a couple of years ago, though I was never very happy with the eye. I think I have a better handle on the eye now, so maybe I’ll make a new design and carve a new block soon.

Illustration of budding flowers emerging from seeds as roots reach out in the soil. The flowers are red with sketchy black outlines, the soil is black, and the background is dark gray. There is a circle-A for anarchism among the flowers. This image is a detail from Glowing: CalendsOfApril.com/glowing.
