Saguaro blossoms for day 2 of my October daily sketching practice. The saguaro grows on O’odham land (in the southwest of the so-called US). The harvest of the saguaro fruit is an ongoing tradition.
Saguaro flowers were part of the inspiration for this practice piece I drew several months ago when I was working on shading. The petals of the flower and the dust clouds of an expanding nova are fancifully merged in that piece. Flowers emerge from their centers, stars expand outward, life radiates.
